Intensity
At The Office Yoga Company, we like to take a body-centred approach mental health. Anxiety and low mood is not just something that happens in our brains – it’s about the body too. It’s a two-way street, with the brain influencing the body, and the body influencing the brain. This is a powerful concept, because it opens up many more options for working with stress and feeling flat beyond the most obvious ones.
You may have heard of the gut-brain axis, a bi-directional communication system that connects the stomach and intestines and the brain. It’s been shown that the microbes in the gut produce various chemicals that can affect the brain, such as neurotransmitters and other signalling molecules. About 95% of the body’s serotonin is produced in the gut.
The gut-brain axis is thought to play a role in important physiological and psychological processes, such as mood regulation, stress response, and even immune function. Disruptions in this axis have been linked to various health conditions, including emotionally mediated ones like anxiety and depression.
The other advantage to this approach is that many body-centred approaches are self-directed, meaning you can practise them on yourself, anytime, and at no cost. Often, the benefits can be felt immediately.
Essential Stress Relief covers a number of body-centred practices for evoking the relaxation response in real time and cultivating resilience.
Essential Mindfulness explores impactful, research-backed techniques for boosting mood, increasing focus, and letting go of stress.
Essential Breathwork discusses how our breathing affects our mood and introduces simple techniques for feeling more energised or more relaxed.
Stress Management Workshop
In our Essential Stress Relief workshop, we cover a variety of accessible, self-directed interventions proven to relieve stress.
We will set the scene with a brief discussion of definitions and the mechanisms by which the mind and body respond to stress. You will then be guided through several powerful, self-directed practices for evoking the relaxation response in real time.
Depending on the chosen length of session, these may include mindfulness, breathwork, restorative yoga postures, dynamic rest, and self-massage (acupressure and Myofascial Release). Cultivating a direct, moment-to-moment experience with ourselves underpins these practices, and is a proven approach to balancing the nervous system and reducing anxiety symptoms.
With each session, your team will also receive a guided audio recording, so that they can continue to enjoy the many benefits of these powerful and transformative techniques long after the session.
Mindfulness Workshop
Our corporate mindfulness workshop, Essential Mindfulness, provides a simple and effective way of supporting your team’s wellbeing, by inviting them to take a break and switch off from their work.
In this mindfulness workshop, we explore research-backed techniques derived from various methodologies to let go of stress and cultivate a calm and clear presence of mind. These may include breath awareness, Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR), body scanning, visualisation, somatic practices, sound healing, loving-kindness meditation, and gratitude meditation.

“I had the pleasure to attend webinars on stress management and good posture, which were highly informative. As opposed to many providers that tend to provided repetitive and self-evident information in such classes, these were densely informative, well-researched and super useful.”
