Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is a form of yoga that teaches the art of letting go. These classes feature longer-held poses supported by cushions and blankets. In doing so, we allow the muscles to completely relax and the weight of the body to surrender to gravity. This style of yoga stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, eliciting the relaxation response and creating a deep feeling of calm. It centres on slowing down and releasing patterns of tension through passive stretches and present moment awareness of the body.

These classes are a perfect complement to an active or “always on” lifestyle, offering practitioners the opportunity to let go of the need to be constantly doing, and connect deeply with their physicality and their true self. Restorative Yoga strengthens the immune system, lowers stress hormone cortisol, and improves sleep quality.

What Will You Need?

Restorative Yoga is a floor-based yoga class, and so is best performed on carpet or with a mat or towel for comfort. We also recommend the use of blankets and cushions to make the poses as supported as possible. In this way, we allow the body to completely relax and let go of muscle stiffness. This is an ideal evening class as it can help with winding down at the end of the workday.

While you can do this in an office, we recommend scheduling the class on a day when your team will be WFH. Please let us know in the order comments at checkout if you plan to be at your office, so we can adapt the class accordingly. At minimum this class requires one blanket per participant.
