Mat Pilates

Mat Pilates involves a combination of standing, seated, kneeling and reclined exercises. For comfort, we recommend the use of a mat or towel for cushioning, if practising on hard floor. This form of Pilates requires no other equipment, making it perfect to enjoy in a quiet meeting room at the office, or while working from home. We also offer Desk Pilates for those lower on space.

In these classes, our experienced instructors teach you the foundations of the classical Pilates method. You will be guided through a full-body workout, incorporating the arms, shoulders, trunk, pelvis and legs. With regular practice, mat Pilates strengthens and lengthens the major muscle groups throughout the body. The exercises emphasise building a strong core from which we can move our arms and legs with greater ease, integration, and efficiency. Pilates also promotes postural awareness which, coupled with a solid core, makes it excellent for injury prevention.

A recent study of the benefits of weekly Pilates classes found that practitioners experienced improved mood and body awareness as well as increased muscle mass, flexibility, and core strength after only ten weeks.

To get the most out of these sessions, we suggest wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. Our classes are suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to seasoned Pilates enthusiasts.
